Nothing goes into your skin until you've seen it on you, in a mirror, and said yes to it.

What you want, where you want it and why. If the placement is going to age badly, we'll tell you before you book rather than afterwards.

Drawn and placed

Hand drawn, then stencilled onto the exact spot. You see it on you and you can move it as many times as you like.

The tattoo

Most small pieces are done inside the hour, drawing included. It's quiet, it's private and nobody else is in the room.

You leave with written aftercare and a way to message us. Healing is individual and we would much rather you asked.

Healing

Small doesn't meannothing to do.

A fine line tattoo heals like any other tattoo. What you do in the first fortnight decides how crisp it stays.

Day 1 to 2
Tender, slightly raised and a little pink around the lines. Keep it clean and dry between washes.
Day 3 to 6
Flaking begins. Please don't pick it. Lifting a scab lifts ink out with it.
Day 7 to 14
Flaking finishes. The line often looks faint and slightly cloudy at this stage, which is normal.
Week 3 to 4
The line sharpens as the last of the healing settles.
Week 6
Healed. This is the point at which we would look at a top up, if one is wanted.
Your part

Preparation and aftercareare as important as the treatment.

We look after the treatment itself. Everything either side of it is yours to look after, and it matters more than most people expect.

Before you come

  • Eat properly beforehand. Please don't come on an empty stomach.
  • No alcohol the night before. We don't tattoo anyone who has been drinking.
  • Go easy on caffeine on the day.
  • No sunbeds, and no sunburn on the area, in the week beforehand.
  • Moisturise the area daily for a few days first. Well hydrated skin takes ink better.
  • If you take blood thinners, or you're pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to us before you book.
  • Bring photographic identification. Eighteen and over only, with no exceptions.

Afterwards

  • Leave the wrap on for as long as you're told, then wash gently with unperfumed soap and pat dry.
  • Follow the aftercare you're given. It's individual, and some skin heals better dry than balmed.
  • No swimming, saunas, steam rooms or baths for two weeks. Showers are fine.
  • No gym or heavy sweating for the first few days.
  • Keep it out of the sun while it heals, and use SPF on it for life once healed.
  • Please don't pick the flaking. It'll cost you ink.
The honest bit

Fingers are the hardest placeon the body to tattoo.

We would rather talk you through this before you book than have you disappointed in a year.

Hands and fingers fade faster than anywhere else. The skin there's thin, it renews quickly, it's washed constantly and it takes more friction and sun than any other part of you. A finger tattoo will lighten and soften, and some people want a top up inside a year or two. That's the placement, not the work.

Fine lines spread very slightly as they age. Ink settles outwards over years. On a large piece you would never notice it. On something the size of two letters it is the difference between crisp and soft, and it's the trade off you make for something delicate.

Some placements we'll decline. Palms, the sides of fingers and anywhere the skin creases hard don't hold ink reliably. If you ask for one of those we'll say so, and suggest somewhere it'll still be readable in ten years.

None of this is a reason not to have one. It's a reason to know what you're having, so a top up is something you planned for rather than something that surprised you.

Why would I come to a clinic for a tattoo?

Because a lot of people want a tattoo and don't want to walk into a tattoo studio to get it. You get the same thing here, from a tattoo artist of over a decade, by appointment, in a private treatment room. No shopfront, no waiting area full of strangers, no walk in traffic.

How much is it?

Two initials are £50. Names, words, dates and fine line designs are priced individually, so send us a photo or a description on WhatsApp and Phil will quote you before you book.

Who does them?

Phil. He has been a tattoo artist for over a decade, alongside his permanent makeup work, and he is Platinum Masters accredited in cosmetic tattooing. This is a tattooist's work, done in a clinical room.

Does it hurt?

It's quick, and most people find a small fine line piece far easier than they expected. Bony areas such as fingers are sharper than fleshy ones. Phil will say what to expect where you want it.

How long is the appointment?

Allow an hour for a small piece, including the drawing and the placing. Larger designs are quoted with a time attached.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes. Send it over beforehand so Phil can tell you whether it'll hold at the size you want. Very fine detail shrunk down small won't stay readable.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, if you would rather not do it on your own. Tell us when you book so the room is set up for it.

How long will it last?

It's permanent. It'll fade and soften with time, faster on hands and fingers than anywhere else, and it can be topped up when you want it refreshed.

Do I need a patch test?

Patch testing is arranged per treatment. We'll tell you at booking whether yours needs one and when it has to be done.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give us at least forty eight hours' notice. Your deposit is taken at booking and comes straight off the price on the day.
