How it runs

A private consultationcomes first, always.

We'll want to know about your surgery or your scar, how it has healed, and what your medical team have said. Sometimes the honest answer is to wait a little longer.

Private consultation

Unhurried, and in a closed room. We design the work with you and price it there, and you take as long as you need to decide.

Colour

Pigment matched to your own skin tone, and to the other side where there's one to match.

The treatment

Topical anaesthetic, applied and reapplied throughout. Scar tissue behaves differently to normal skin and we work accordingly.

Retouch, five weeks

Included with areola work. Scar tissue in particular often needs a second pass to hold colour evenly.

Healing

Keep it dryand leave it alone.

Healing follows the same pattern as any tattooed pigment, with one extra rule: no soaking.

Day 1 to 2
Bolder and darker than the healed result, with some tenderness. This is all completely normal.
Day 3 to 7
Flaking begins. Please don't pick or help it along.
Day 7 to 10
Flaking finishes and the colour often looks too light. Again, completely normal.
Up to two weeks
No soaking in a bath, spa or jacuzzi.
Week 5
The healed result, and your retouch appointment.
Your part

Preparation and aftercareare as important as the treatment.

We look after the treatment itself. Everything either side of it is yours to look after, and it matters more than most people expect.

Before you come

  • Speak to your medical team first if you're unsure whether the area has healed enough.
  • No alcohol the night before.
  • Go easy on caffeine on the day.
  • If you take aspirin or blood thinners, speak to your doctor first.

Afterwards

  • No soaking in a bath, spa or jacuzzi for up to two weeks.
  • Follow the aftercare you're given. It's individual: some clients are given a balm, others heal better dry, and we'll tell you which you are.
  • No steam rooms, saunas, public baths or extreme heat for seven to ten days.
  • Keep the area out of direct sun.
  • Please don't pick the flaking. It'll cost you pigment.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can come straight to us for a consultation. If we think you should speak to your medical team first, we'll tell you.

Will it look real?

Areola work is done in three dimensions rather than as a flat circle of colour, which is what gives it the look of a real areola. We'll show you healed examples at your consultation.

Does it hurt over scar tissue?

Scar tissue often has reduced sensation, and many clients feel less than they expected. A topical anaesthetic is used and reapplied throughout, and we work at your pace.

How soon after surgery can I have it done?

That depends entirely on how you've healed and what your surgeon or medical team advise. Come and talk to us and we'll be honest with you about the timing.

Can you match my other side?

Where there's a side to match, yes, that's exactly what we do. Colour is mixed to your own skin tone rather than picked from a chart.

Do I need a patch test?

Patch testing is arranged per treatment, so it depends what you're having done. We'll tell you at your consultation whether yours needs one and when it has to be done.

Is it private?

Yes. Consultations and treatments are in a closed room, at your pace, and we don't photograph anything without your written permission.
