Let’s go back to the beginning…

Weight Gain

When you are young, a typical infant has 5-6 billion fat cells.

Assuming you maintain a healthy body fat ratio, as a healthy adult you’ll have 25-30 billion fat cells.

Now this is where it gets rather fascinating, if you become an overweight adult, you’ll have around 75 million fat cells and if you get into severe obesity, the number can be as high as 250-300 billion.

Where do the extra fat cells come from?

When you gain weight, fat cells fill with triglycerides and if this energy is not utilised and calories still exceed demand the cell will expand to a maximum of 4 times its natural size.

Once it hits the maximum of expansion (4x) now that fat cell will multiply.

Weight Loss

So you’ve gained weight and now you’ve decided to lose that weight.

The more exercise a person does (or gets a deficit of calories), the more energy the body needs from triglycerides. This energy will come from the fat cells and so the fat cells will decrease in size.

Whichever way you choose to lose weight, whether it is with diet or exercise, the fat cells will reduce, but never actually go away.

So those fat cells always remain but in a shrunken state, in a way they lay dormant, ready to refill but unlike someone who has never been overweight, there are billions more just waiting to ‘inflate’ again.

If an adult who has never had the significant multiplication of fat cells, may find it difficult to put weight on and have to eat a huge amount of calories consistently to get a gain. They simply don’t have the abundance of dormant fat cells ready to fill up again, so may not put weight on quickly.

I’m sure you’ve heard people who struggle to maintain a healthy weight say things like ‘I only need to look at a cream cake and I put 5lbs on’ and as you can see, this is not too far from what happens as those fat cells are waiting around to fill up!

This explains the frustration that once you have lost weight, many just cannot keep it off and seem to actually gain more weight than before. The result can be yo-yo dieting along with a real sense of failure, frustration and disappointment.

A way that you can break this cycle is cavitation. We can now destroy these fat cells using cavitation, this treatment is so effective and even more so when you are actively eating a clean and healthy diet and drinking lots of water and cutting down on toxins. We pair it with our ReShape device so ensure the skin is tightened and contoured.

How does Cavitation Work?

Our medical grade Cavitation device uses ultrasound wave to mechanically disrupt the cell membrane of the fat cell. The ultrasound wave creates a vibration within the fat layer, the fat cells do not have the structural capacity to withstand this vibration and the cell membrane will very quickly break down.

These broken cells then release Triglycerides into the interstitial space in-between the cells, where they are enzymatically changed into free fatty acid and glycerol.

Water soluble glycerol is absorbed by the circulatory system and used as the energy source.

Insoluble free fatty acids are transported to the liver and processed and passed (which is why drinking lots of water is imperative!).

This really is the formula for you having a real chance at losing weight and actually keeping it off.
