What Profhilo actually does

Profhilo is the treatment I am asked about more than any other, and it is also the one people most often have the wrong idea about. So here is the honest version.

It is not a filler and it is not a facelift

A filler adds volume in one place. It sits where you put it and it changes the shape of something. Profhilo does not do that. It is ultra pure hyaluronic acid at a very high concentration, and rather than staying put it spreads through the skin and works on the quality of the tissue itself. Hydration, elasticity, firmness. The word for it is bio remodelling, which sounds like marketing but is actually accurate.

Nobody should be selling it to you as a facelift. It will not lift anything. What it will do is make your skin behave better, and on the right person that reads as looking well rather than looking done.

Who it suits

Skin that has lost its bounce. Crepey texture on the cheeks, the neck or the backs of the hands. Usually from the mid thirties onwards, though I go on the skin in front of me rather than the birthday. If what is bothering you is volume loss or a fold, Profhilo is the wrong tool and I will tell you so at your consultation.

What actually happens

Five injection points on each side of the face, in a set pattern chosen because those points let the product spread evenly through the skin. It is quick, it is not especially uncomfortable, and you will have small raised bumps at each point that settle within a few hours. Most people go back to work.

You need two sessions, four weeks apart. That is not an upsell, it is how the product is designed to work. After that most of my clients come back every six months or so, and some prefer to keep it topped up more often.

When you will see something

Not immediately. The change builds over the four to six weeks after your second session, which is the part people find hard because we are all used to instant. Your skin will feel different before it looks different.

Is it safe

Profhilo is CE marked and has been used across Europe for years. It is a well established treatment with a good safety record. It is still an injectable, so it should be done by somebody qualified, in a clinic, after a proper consultation. Ask anybody who offers it what their training is. Anyone doing it properly will be glad you asked.

Come and ask me

A skin consultation with me is thirty pounds and that thirty pounds comes off the cost of your treatment. We will look at your skin, work out what you actually need, and if Profhilo is not the right answer for you I will say so.
