This isn't a medical service and we can't diagnose. If there's any doubt at all about what something is, please arrange a visit to your doctor or a dermatologist in the first instance. We would always rather send you than guess.

How it runs

Assessed first, treated the same day where we can.

Most of these are quick. The part that matters is being sure of what we're treating before we treat it.

01

Consultation

We look properly at what it is. If we aren't certain it is benign, we send you to your doctor before anything else happens.

02

The method

Diathermy or thermolysis, chosen for the blemish, its size and where it sits.

03

The treatment

Usually minutes rather than an hour. Some sites are more sensitive than others and we tell you which.

04

Healing and review

Most settle within a couple of weeks. Some need a second session and we'll say so upfront.

Healing

Small crusts,then nothing.

Healing is quick and undramatic. The main rule is leave it alone and keep it out of the sun.

Same day
Redness and sometimes small crusting at the site.
Day 3 to 10
Crusts lift on their own. Please don't pick them.
Week 2 to 4
Any pinkness fades. Some sites take a little longer.
Second session
Thread veins and xanthelasma in particular often need more than one.
Your part

Preparation and aftercareare as important as the treatment.

We look after the treatment itself. Everything either side of it is yours to look after, and it matters more than most people expect.

Before you come

  • If you're at all unsure what a lesion is, see your doctor first.
  • Avoid tanning and sunbeds beforehand.
  • Tell us about any medication you take, including blood thinners.

Afterwards

  • Leave any crusting alone. It lifts on its own.
  • Broad spectrum SPF on the site, every day.
  • No sun, sauna, steam room or sunbed for at least seven days.
  • Keep the area clean and dry.
Questions

The ones everybodyasks in the room.

Does it hurt?

Most of these are over in minutes and are far more comfortable than people expect. Some sites are more sensitive than others and we'll tell you which before we start.

Can you tell me what it is?

No. This isn't a medical service and we can't diagnose. If there's any doubt at all, please see your doctor or a dermatologist first. We'll always say so rather than guess.

Will it scar?

Any procedure that affects the skin carries some risk of scarring or pigment change. We choose the method for the blemish and the site to keep that risk low, and we go through it with you properly at consultation.

Will it come back?

Some things do. Thread veins and milia in particular can recur, and sun spots will return with sun exposure. Daily SPF matters.

How many sessions?

Most single blemishes are one. Thread veins and xanthelasma usually need more than one, and we'll tell you upfront rather than after.

Who will treat me?
